Car
If you're driving from Garissa, head west on the A3 highway. Continue straight for about 100 kilometers until you reach the junction at Mwea. Turn left onto the B8 road and follow the signs for Mwea National Reserve. After approximately 30 kilometers, you will see signs directing you to the reserve entrance. Note that the roads may be unpaved and require a 4WD vehicle, especially during the rainy season. Expect to pay an entrance fee of around 1000 KES for adults and 500 KES for children.

Public Transportation
From Garissa, you can take a matatu (shared taxi) heading towards Mwea. The fare is usually around 300 KES. Inform the driver that you want to be dropped off at Mwea National Reserve. The journey may take about 2-3 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive in Mwea, you will need to take a local boda-boda (motorcycle taxi) to the reserve entrance for a fare of about 100-200 KES.
