From Thakhek, head southwest on Route 13 towards the town of Khammouane. Continue driving for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the junction for Route 12. Take a right onto Route 12 and drive for another 15 kilometers. Look for signs directing you to Elephant Cave, which will be on your left. The entrance is marked by a large sign. Ensure you have a map or GPS as some areas may not have clear signposting.
Public Transportation
To reach Elephant Cave using public transportation, start from the central bus station in Thakhek. Look for a bus heading towards Khammouane or Route 12. The fare is typically around 20,000 LAK. Inform the driver that you are going to Elephant Cave; they will drop you off near the entrance. From there, you may need to walk approximately 1 kilometer along a dirt path to reach the cave entrance. It is advisable to check the bus schedule ahead of time as services may not be frequent.
