Car
If you are driving, start from the city center of Thakhek, Khammouane Province. Head east on Route 12 for approximately 22 kilometers. After reaching the junction near the town of Ban Nahouangoua, turn left onto the local road leading to Tham Pha Chan. Continue straight for about 10 kilometers until you arrive at the entrance of Tham Pha Chan, which is located at HV82+7FG, Ban Nahouangoua. Ensure you have a map or GPS ready, as the signage can be limited.
Public Transportation
To reach Tham Pha Chan via public transport, take a bus from Thakhek to Ban Nahouangoua. Buses leave frequently from the main bus station. The fare is usually around 20,000 LAK (Lao Kip). Upon arrival in Ban Nahouangoua, you may need to hire a local tuk-tuk or motorbike taxi to cover the remaining 10 kilometers to Tham Pha Chan. The cost for a tuk-tuk can range from 50,000 to 70,000 LAK, depending on your negotiation skills.
Tuk-Tuk
If you prefer, you can also hire a tuk-tuk directly from Thakhek to Tham Pha Chan. This option could be more expensive, with fares typically ranging from 200,000 to 300,000 LAK for a round trip. Make sure to agree on the price before starting your journey and confirm the return time with the driver.
