Awesome food tour and getting to know the Laotian culture

So back in Germany and autumn weather for starters…. 😔 . Today, I am first remembering the food tour with Latda. 😍. She is super competent and you can really tell that she loves showing people her hometown. The food was simply incredible. We had so many different dishes and each one of them was uniquely good. The portions were generous, I didn't have to suffer from hunger 🤣. Latda took us to hidden locations that I would never have found on my own and showed us food that I would never have ordered on my own. In addition, she told cool stories about Laotian food culture, which made the whole thing even more special. If you are in Luang Prabang and love food, you absolutely have to do this tour. Absolutely recommended!

Our guide Toun took us through the day market and to other sites for a wide variety of delicious Lao dishes. He was very informative and we learned so much about Lao culture and food. Highly recommend!

More than a food tour

As it turned out, our "group tour" turned into a private tour when no one else showed up! Our guide Latda chose a variety of dishes and preparations, starting in restaurants and ending in the "local alley" of the Night Market. Elephant ear shoots, whole fish wrapped in lettuce leaves with the most delicious sauces, seaweed chips, buffalo jerky, noodle soup, pork stuffed in tender bamboo shoots, Luang Prabang sausages...Such a variety! She seemed to be friends with everyone we passed on the streets, and it's easy to see why -- she is an open-hearted, lovely guide. (In addition to the food, we went to a local temple for a blessing by one of the young monks. Icing on the cake:-)
