Xiengman Village Hidden Treasure Walking Trails

Luang Prabang Shanman village, 95% of tourists have not arrived

By ferry to Shanman village, there is a "country hike + temple quest" route ideal for half-day trips. is an experience that 95% of visitors never have. Route: 3.5km one way You can return by the same route, or take a boat near the ferry. 🏡 Old House Cafe|Hiking Start A few minutes walk off the boat, the village entrance sees a Laotian country-style wooden house surrounded by greenery. This is the starting point for the Shanman village hike and a place to rest and replenish. ðŸ Shanman Village Primary School | The Most Memorable Human Experience Brought the kids some small snacks and presents. Children can't play with bamboo dragonflies, and the lack of toys hurts me. There are still remedial activities during the school summer holidays, which cost about 50,000 Kip (about RMB15) per month. The conditions are simple, but the children are warm and innocent. 🛕 Shanman Temple Wat Xiengman Saiyaseth Aram Built around 1560 by King Setthathirat of Laos, it is one of the most important monasteries in Shanman village. It has beautiful wood-carved doors and traditional wall decoration. 🌅 Zanzi Temple Wat Chomphet The hilltop temple was built in 1888 under the auspices of Chaophraya Surasakmontri, a Siamese general stationed in Luang Prabang. It was an important religious site for the royal family and was used for coronation ceremonies. Climbing to the top overlooks the Mekong River and the ancient city. ðŸ Wat Long Khoun Longkun Temple is also known as Longguang Temple, Longkun Temple and Longkun Temple. Restored between 1791-1815 by King Anurut, this temple was a retreat for members of the Luang Prabang royal family and high monks. On both sides of the entrance to the Temple Gate is preserved a Chinese-style samurai gate god, rumored to have been painted in 1887 during the Black Banner Army period and is a unique mark of the intermingling of Chinese and Lao cultures. The Siamese-style Bunsen story murals are preserved in the temple, and you can experience the traditional Lao Baci bolted handkerchief, meaning peace and good luck. 🕯 Wat Tham Sakkarin It is a temple hidden in a natural cave. The cave contains the remains of King Sakkalin (reigned 1895-1904), whose ashes are dedicated in a white pagoda inside the cave. Caves are usually closed and need to be opened by monks. The interior is deep and dimly lit, so it's recommended to bring a flashlight. 🌳 Wat Had Siew Also known as Hanqiao Temple. The temple was built in the early 19th century and is closely linked to the royal palace. Explore the wooded path and see scattered wild Buddha statues, quiet and wild. 📌 Practical information 🚢 Transportation: Palace Pier by ferry 💰 Cost: Ferry 10,000 Kip/person (about $3) Motorcycle 8000 Kip/vehicle ⏰ Time: Ferry about 7:00-21:00

Living Land Experience and Kuang Si water with Lunch

A whopper experience for those who aren't afraid to get down and dirty

When traveling, authentic experiences are at the top of our list and this was a whopper! If you're not afraid to get down and dirty, you will walk away richer for this traditional rice farming experience. In terraces at various stages of production and muck up to our calves, we seeded a plant nursery, plowed behind a water buffalo, replanted in a water-laden terrace, pulled some weeds, looked for frogs and snails, harvested mature rice with a sickle, and thrashed dried stalks to separate the kernels. Out of the field there were lessons about the tools, transporting, bamboo uses and weaving, cooking, and even how to find the best seeds for the next season. The owner/teacher was down to earth and totally captivating. The waterfall was totally worth the visit too but the farming experience was "don't-miss extraordinary".
