Getting There

• Car Rental

  If you have rented a car in Vang Vieng, head east on Route 13 for approximately 5 kilometers. Look for signs directing you towards Phoxay. Continue straight and then take a left onto Route 12, which will lead you towards the Nam Xong River area. The Elephant Cave is located near the river, specifically at the coordinates 19.038657, 102.430470. Follow the local signs to the parking area, where you can park your car.

• Tuk-Tuk

  To reach Elephant Cave by tuk-tuk, find a tuk-tuk driver in Vang Vieng’s main town area. Inform the driver that you want to go to Elephant Cave, located near the Nam Xong River in Phoxay. The ride will take about 15-20 minutes and should cost around 30,000 to 50,000 LAK. Make sure to negotiate the price before starting your journey.

• Public Bus

  If you prefer public transportation, take a local bus from Vang Vieng to Phoxay. Buses leave from the main bus station, and the fare is approximately 15,000 LAK. Once you arrive in Phoxay, you can either walk to the Elephant Cave, which is about a 30-minute walk from the bus stop, or hire a local tuk-tuk for an additional cost of around 20,000 LAK.

• Bicycle Rental

  For those who enjoy cycling, consider renting a bicycle in Vang Vieng. Head east on Route 13, then take a left onto Route 12. Follow the route for about 6 kilometers until you reach the Nam Xong River area. The ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on your pace. Make sure to carry water and be cautious of traffic. Once you arrive, look for signs leading to Elephant Cave.
