Vienības Laukums: The Heart of Daugavpils

Vienības Laukums, or Unity Square, is considered the heart of Daugavpils, serving as a focal point for the city's cultural and social life. From its beginnings in the early 20th century, the square has been a significant part of the city. Originally named Konventa Laukums, it was renamed Vienības Laukums (Unity Square) in 1925. Over the years, the square has undergone several transformations, including a period during the Soviet era when it was named Ļeņina Laukums (Lenin Square).
