Discover more about Bulduri Exhibition House

The Bulduri Exhibition House, or BEX, is a captivating art space in Jūrmala, housed in a building that embodies the essence of the city's architectural traditions. Built in 1920, this wooden structure has served various purposes throughout its history, including a city elementary school until the 1970s. Today, it stands as a monument to art and culture, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in creative expression. Since becoming a sister site of the Jūrmala City Museum in 2018, the Bulduri Exhibition House has been a dynamic center for art exhibitions and participatory art campaigns. The exhibitions showcase a wide range of works by both local Jūrmala artists and authors from other cities and countries. The House also organizes the annual juried exhibition dedicated to Latvia's independence “YES/NOdependence”. On the second floor, visitors can explore the former studio of artist Valdis Bušs, gaining insight into his creative process and admiring his paintings, studies, and watercolors. The space also hosts creative workshops, fostering artistic engagement and learning. The surrounding garden also displays art objects. Bulduri itself is a residential area of Jūrmala with a rich history. Known as Bilderlingshof during the era of Imperial Russia, it evolved from a demand for summer villas in the late 19th century. The Bulduri Exhibition House adds to the area's cultural appeal, offering a space for artistic exploration and community engagement.
