Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Beirut, take a bus or shared taxi to a town near the reserve, such as Maasser El Chouf, Barouk, or Ain Zhalta. From there, take a local taxi or 'service' (shared taxi) to the Shouf Biosphere Reserve entrance. The fare for the local taxi can range from LBP 5,000 to LBP 15,000 depending on the distance. Be sure to confirm that the taxi is going to the Shouf Biosphere Reserve entrance in Jbaa.

  • Driving

    From Beirut, drive south towards Damour on the coastal highway. From Damour, take the road to Beiteddine, passing through Kfarhim. Continue towards Maasser Beiteddine, and then follow signs to the Shouf Biosphere Reserve. Note that parking may be limited near the entrance. A taxi from Beirut to the Al Shouf Cedar Nature Reserve will cost approximately $60-$75.

  • Walking

    If you're already in Jbaa, start from the main square and head northeast along the main road. Follow the signs to the Shouf Biosphere Reserve; it's about a 20-30 minute walk. The entrance is located at coordinates 33.6063889, 35.6441667.
