From Afriski Mountain Resort, head southeast on the main road (R712) towards the town of Mokhotlong. Continue on this road for approximately 15 km until you reach a junction. Take a left turn onto the road marked for Mutlanyane. Follow this road for about 10 km, passing through scenic landscapes and small settlements. As you approach Mutlanyane, look for a sign indicating the Khukhune river source. The coordinates for the river source are approximately -28.8560332 latitude and 28.4965418 longitude.
