Car
If you are traveling by car from Toliara (the nearest major city), take Route Nationale 7 (RN7) south towards the town of Berenty. The drive takes approximately 3-4 hours. Follow the signs to Berenty, and once you reach the junction at Amboasary, turn right onto the road leading to Berenty. Continue straight for about 20 km until you reach the reserve entrance. Be prepared for some unpaved roads as you approach the reserve.
Public Transportation
To reach réserve de Berenty via public transportation, start by taking a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) from Toliara to Amboasary. The journey takes about 2-3 hours. From Amboasary, you will need to take another taxi-brousse to Berenty. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they are heading to Berenty, as not all vehicles may go directly there. This leg of the journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Berenty, the reserve entrance is within walking distance.
Taxi
If you prefer a more direct route without the hassle of public transport, you can hire a taxi from Toliara directly to réserve de Berenty. This option is more expensive, costing around 150,000 to 200,000 MGA (Malagasy Ariary) for a one-way trip. The journey will take approximately 3-4 hours. Ensure you negotiate the price before starting your journey.
