Car

If you're traveling by car from Antananarivo, take Route Nationale 2 (RN2) heading east toward Toamasina. Continue on RN2 for about 90 kilometers until you reach the junction for Batou Beach. Follow the signs directing you towards the beach area. The total driving time is approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Be aware of occasional road conditions and traffic, especially in rural areas.

Public Transportation (Taxi-Brousse)

From Antananarivo, head to the main taxi-brousse station called 'Gare Routière d'Analakely'. Look for a taxi-brousse heading to Toamasina (also known as Tamatave). The fare is approximately 15,000 to 20,000 MGA (Malagasy Ariary) per person. The journey takes around 4 to 5 hours. Upon arrival in Toamasina, you can hire a local taxi or find a shared taxi-brousse to take you specifically to Batou Beach. This leg of the trip may cost around 5,000 to 10,000 MGA.

Once you arrive in Toamasina, you can hire a local taxi directly to Batou Beach. Make sure to negotiate the fare beforehand; it should be around 20,000 to 30,000 MGA for the trip which might take around 30 minutes, depending on traffic and conditions. Ensure the taxi is registered for safety.
