Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Fort Dauphin, head east towards the shore. Walk along Avenue de l'Indépendance until you reach the beach. Continue along the coast on the main path until you reach the end of the beach. From here, take the hiking trail that leads inland towards the hills. Follow the trail as it winds through the forest, keeping an eye out for signs indicating the direction to La grotte Ekapahaky. The hike should take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on your pace. As you approach the cave, you will notice a distinct rock formation that signals you are near your destination.

• Local Guide

  If you prefer not to hike alone, consider hiring a local guide. You can find guides near the beach area or ask at your hotel for recommendations. A guide can provide not only navigation assistance but also insights into the local flora and fauna during your trek to La grotte Ekapahaky.

• Bicycle

  If you have access to a bicycle, you can cycle from the center of Fort Dauphin towards Belay. Follow Avenue de l'Indépendance, then take the coastal road heading east. Once you reach the beach, you can park your bike and follow the same walking trail mentioned earlier. Biking will allow you to cover more ground quickly, but be prepared to lock your bike securely before starting the hike.
