Getting There

  • Shuttle Bus

    To reach the Beehive Trail from any point in Acadia National Park, start by locating the Island Explorer shuttle bus stop nearest to you. The Island Explorer operates throughout the park and is free for visitors. Board the shuttle heading towards the Sand Beach area. Once you arrive at the Sand Beach stop, disembark and follow the signs directing you to the Beehive Trailhead, which is located a short walk from the beach area.

  • Walking

    If you are within walking distance of the Beehive Trail, you can directly walk to the trailhead. From Sand Beach, head west along the coast until you reach the trail entrance. Look for the sign marking the Beehive Trail. The walk is scenic and will take approximately 10-15 minutes from Sand Beach.

  • Bicycle

    For those who prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle at various locations around Bar Harbor. From Bar Harbor, ride along the carriage roads towards Sand Beach. The ride is approximately 3.5 miles and will take around 20-30 minutes. Upon reaching Sand Beach, lock your bike at the bike rack and follow the trail signs to the Beehive Trailhead.
