Car
From Kande Beach, head north on the M5 road towards Nkhata Bay. The drive is approximately 30 kilometers and will take about 30-45 minutes depending on road conditions. Look for signs directing you to Nkhata Bay. As you approach Nkhata Bay, be prepared to follow the road signs leading to Kalwe Forest Reserve, which is located just outside the town. You will need to park in the designated area near the reserve entrance.

To reach Kalwe Forest Reserve via public transportation, first take a minibus from Kande Beach to Nkhata Bay. Minibuses frequently depart from the main road and cost around 1,000 MWK (Malawian Kwacha). The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Upon arrival in Nkhata Bay, you can either walk or take a local taxi to the Kalwe Forest Reserve entrance, which is about 5 kilometers from the town center. Taxi fares will vary, but expect to pay around 1,500-2,500 MWK for the short ride.
