Getting There

  • Car

    From Majete Wildlife Reserve, head north on the T378 road. Continue for approximately 25 kilometers, following the signs for Lake Malawi National Park. The road is generally in good condition, but be cautious of wildlife crossing. Once you reach the junction following the signs, take a left turn and continue for another 10 kilometers. You will reach the entrance of Lake Malawi National Park, where you may need to pay an entrance fee (approximately 5,000 MWK per person).

  • Public Transportation

    From Majete Wildlife Reserve, walk to the nearest local transport hub (usually near the park entrance). Catch a minibus heading towards Monkey Bay or Cape Maclear. The fare is typically around 1,500 MWK. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Lake Malawi National Park junction. Once you reach the junction, you may need to walk about 10 kilometers to the park entrance. Alternatively, you may be able to find a local taxi or motorbike to take you the remaining distance for around 3,000-5,000 MWK.

    If you prefer a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Majete Wildlife Reserve. This will cost you approximately 20,000 MWK for a one-way trip to Lake Malawi National Park.
