Getting there

Car

From any location in Shire Valley, head towards the main road (M5) connecting to Zomba. Follow the M5 southbound until you reach the junction for the Lichenya Road. Turn right onto Lichenya Road and continue for about 12 kilometers. You will see signs directing you to Elephant Marsh. As you approach the marsh, be prepared for a rough road. Use a 4x4 vehicle if possible, as the terrain can be challenging. Follow the signs and local directions to reach the entrance of Elephant Marsh (G49G+HQX).

Public Transportation

Start by taking a minibus from your location in Shire Valley to Zomba. Once you arrive in Zomba, look for a minibus heading towards the Lichenya area. Inform the driver you want to stop at the junction for Lichenya Road. From there, you will likely need to walk or find a local taxi to take you the remaining distance to Elephant Marsh. Be sure to negotiate your fare with the taxi driver beforehand, as prices can vary.

Walking

If you are already close to the Elephant Marsh area, you may choose to walk. From the nearest road or junction where you are dropped off, head towards the coordinates G49G+HQX.
