    Getting There

    Car

    If you are driving a car, start your journey in Thyolo Highlands. Head towards the town of Thyolo, and from there take the M1 highway heading north. Continue on the M1 for approximately 30 kilometers until you reach the town of Mulanje. Once in Mulanje, look for signs directing you towards the Likhubula area. Take the road heading towards Likhubula, which will lead you to the foot of the Mulanje Mountain. Follow the signs for Livingstonia, which will take you to the C47 road. From the C47 road, keep an eye out for directions to Manchewe Waterfalls (Chipopoma). The waterfalls are located about 15 kilometers off the main road, and you may need to navigate some smaller dirt roads. Be cautious as some roads may not be well maintained.

    Public Transportation

    To reach Manchewe Waterfalls (Chipopoma) using public transportation, start by taking a minibus or a taxi from Thyolo to Mulanje. The fare is usually around 500 MWK. Once in Mulanje, look for a minibus heading to Livingstonia. This will take you closer to the waterfalls area. After arriving in Livingstonia, you may need to hire a local taxi or arrange for a motorcycle taxi (boda-boda) to get to the waterfalls. Be prepared to negotiate the fare, which could be around 1,500 to 2,000 MWK for the short trip to the waterfalls.
