From Columbia, start at the Columbia Mall. Take the Howard County Transit bus Route 403 towards Ellicott City. The bus will take you directly to Ellicott City, and the ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Ellicott City stop, disembark and walk northeast on Maryland Avenue for approximately 0.3 miles. The B&O Ellicott City Station Museum will be on your left at 3711 Maryland Ave.

For those preferring to cycle, start at the Columbia Lakefront. Head towards the path that leads to the Patapsco River and follow it southwest. After about 4 miles, you will reach Ellicott City. Continue on the shared use path until you reach Maryland Avenue. The museum will be located at 3711 Maryland Ave, just a short ride from the path.

If you are up for a scenic walk, you can start at the Columbia Town Center. Walk towards the Patapsco River and follow the path along the riverbank. Continue until you reach the entrance to Ellicott City. Once you enter the town, make your way to Maryland Avenue.
