From Gaithersburg, head to the nearest bus stop for the Ride On bus service. You can take the Route 55 bus towards 'Tysons Corner'. Stay on the bus for approximately 25 minutes. Get off at the stop 'Darnestown Rd & Quince Orchard Rd'. Then transfer to the Loudoun County Transit bus 'Route 70' towards 'Ashburn'. Stay on this bus for about 20 minutes, and then get off at 'Smith Switch Rd & Loudoun County Pkwy'. From there, it's a short 5-minute walk to the Ashburn Ice House. Head south on Smith Switch Rd until you reach 21595 Smith Switch Rd.

If you prefer cycling, rent a bike from a local bike rental shop in Gaithersburg. Start by heading north on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail. Continue on the trail for about 10 miles, following the signs for Ashburn. Once you reach Ashburn, turn left onto Smith Switch Rd and continue riding until you reach 21595 Smith Switch Rd, which should be on your right.

If you're up for a long walk, start from the center of Gaithersburg and walk toward Darnestown Rd. Follow Darnestown Rd northwest for about 4 miles until you reach the intersection with Quince Orchard Rd. Turn right onto Quince Orchard Rd and continue until you reach Ashburn. From there, turn left onto Smith Switch Rd, and walk straight until you arrive at 21595 Smith Switch Rd.
