From anywhere in Southwest Virginia, begin your journey by getting onto US-460 E or I-81 N, depending on your starting point. If you are closer to the southern parts of the region, take US-460 E toward Lynchburg. If you’re starting from an area like Abingdon, you might take I-81 N towards Washington, D.C. Continue on I-81 N until you reach I-66 E at exit 300. Follow I-66 E for approximately 20 miles, then take exit 57A onto US-50 E toward Chantilly. Merge onto Air and Space Museum Pkwy, and follow the signs for the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, which will be on your right at 14390 Air and Space Museum Pkwy, Chantilly, VA 20151. Be mindful of traffic, especially during peak hours. Parking at the center is free.

If you prefer public transportation, you will first need to reach the Washington, D.C. area. You can take a Greyhound or Megabus from various locations in Southwest Virginia to Washington, D.C. Once in D.C., transfer to the Washington Metro system. Take the Orange Line to the Vienna/Fairfax-GMU station. From there, you can take the Fairfax Connector bus #983 toward the Dulles Airport (which stops at the Udvar-Hazy Center). The bus will drop you off directly at the center. Please check the bus schedule ahead of time, as it may vary, and fares are typically around $2-3 for the bus. Ensure you have enough cash or a Metro card for your travels.
