Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, Douglas State Forest is located at 107 Wallum Lake Rd, Douglas, MA 01516. From any point in Blackstone Valley, head to the nearest main road. If you're in Uxbridge, take MA-16 E towards Douglas. Continue on MA-16 for about 5 miles until you reach the intersection with Wallum Lake Rd. Turn right onto Wallum Lake Rd, and after about 1 mile, you'll see the entrance to Douglas State Forest on your left. If you're coming from Blackstone, take MA-126 N to MA-16 E and follow the same directions.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer public transportation, your best option is to take the MBTA commuter rail to the Grafton Station. From Grafton Station, you can use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft to reach Douglas State Forest. The distance is approximately 10 miles, and the ride should cost around $15-$20. Alternatively, you can check local bus schedules that may provide service to Douglas, but be prepared for longer travel times and potential transfers.

• Biking

  For those who enjoy biking, you can cycle to Douglas State Forest from nearby towns. From Uxbridge, take the Blackstone River Greenway which leads towards Douglas. Follow the trail toward Wallum Lake Rd. It's a scenic ride, but be mindful of the road sections without dedicated bike lanes. Bring a bike lock if you plan to secure your bike at the park.

  If you're staying in Douglas or nearby, you can walk to Douglas State Forest. From the center of Douglas, head towards Wallum Lake Rd and follow it north. It's about a 2-mile walk, taking you through some beautiful neighborhoods. Ensure you are wearing comfortable shoes and check the weather before setting out.
