Walking
If you are in downtown Gloucester, start by heading north on Main Street towards the waterfront. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Washington Street. Turn left onto Washington Street and walk until you reach the intersection with Essex Avenue. Turn right onto Essex Avenue and continue walking until you see the bus stop for the MBTA bus service. Board the 67 bus towards Alewife Station. The bus ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Get off at the Alewife Station stop. From there, follow the signs to the Alewife T station and take the Red Line subway towards Ashmont. Transfer at Park Street to the Green Line and take the train towards Government Center. Get off at the Park Street stop. Walk towards Boylston Street and turn left to reach Massachusetts Avenue. Walk along Massachusetts Avenue until you arrive at Cambridge Common, located at the intersection of Waterhouse Street and Massachusetts Avenue.
Public Transport
From Gloucester, head to the nearest MBTA bus station to catch the 67 bus heading towards Alewife Station. The bus departs from the downtown area, typically near Main Street. Once you board, sit back and enjoy the scenic route, which will take about 30 minutes. After arriving at Alewife Station, proceed to the Alewife T station. Take the Red Line subway towards Ashmont. When you reach Park Street Station, switch to the Green Line. Ride the Green Line train until you reach the Massachusetts Avenue exit. Exit the station and walk towards Massachusetts Avenue; Cambridge Common will be at the intersection of Waterhouse Street and Massachusetts Avenue, just a short walk from the station.
