Car
If you're driving from downtown Boston, take Storrow Drive heading west. Follow the signs for the Alewife/Route 2 exit. This will merge you onto Fresh Pond Parkway. Continue straight, and take a left onto Massachusetts Avenue. After about a mile, you will see the Cambridge Common on your right at the intersection of Waterhouse St and Massachusetts Ave. Note that parking can be limited; there are some metered spots available, and parking costs $1.25 per hour.

Public Transportation - Subway
To reach Cambridge Common via the subway, catch the Red Line from any downtown Boston station (like Park Street or South Station) heading towards Alewife. Ride until you reach Alewife Station. From Alewife, transfer to the #47 bus towards Alewife Station. Get off at the stop at Mass Ave @ Waterhouse St. The Cambridge Common will be directly ahead. A one-way subway ticket costs $2.40, and the bus fare is $1.70.
