Bicycle
Start your journey by renting a bicycle from one of the many bike rental shops in downtown Nantucket. Head north on Main Street, then take a left onto Orange Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Milestone Road. Turn right onto Milestone Road and follow it for about 3 miles. Keep an eye out for the signs directing you toward Great Point Beach. As you approach the beach, you will find a dirt road leading to the beach entrance. This route is approximately 5 miles and will take around 30 minutes by bike. Be prepared for sandy paths as you get closer to the beach.
Walking
If you prefer to walk, begin in downtown Nantucket and head north on Main Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Orange Street. Turn left on Orange Street and follow it until it merges into Milestone Road. This walk is approximately 6 miles and can take around 2 hours, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water. As you walk, enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding nature and be sure to follow the signs toward Great Point Beach. Once you reach the beach entrance, you will be greeted with breathtaking views.
Public Transportation
From downtown Nantucket, take the Nantucket Shuttle (you can find the shuttle schedule online or at the local visitor center). Board the shuttle heading towards ‘Sconset, and inform the driver you wish to get off at the nearest stop for Great Point Beach. Once you disembark, it's about a 1-mile walk to the beach entrance along the dirt road. This option allows you to relax and enjoy the scenery without worrying about navigation, as the shuttle will take you through some of the beautiful landscapes of Nantucket.
