Bicycle
Start at the Nantucket Town Dock. From there, head northeast on Broad Street, then take a left onto Main Street. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Pleasant Street, where you will turn right. Follow Pleasant Street until it becomes Madaket Road. Continue on Madaket Road until you reach the intersection with Hummock Pond Road. Turn left and follow Hummock Pond Road until you reach the entrance to the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge. Please note that biking on the refuge may require a permit, so check local regulations. Once inside the refuge, follow the marked trails to reach Great Point Lighthouse, which is approximately 3 miles from the entrance.
Walking
Begin at the Nantucket Town Dock and head north on Broad Street, then take a left onto Main Street. Walk straight until you reach the intersection with Pleasant Street and turn right. Continue on Pleasant Street, which becomes Madaket Road. Unfortunately, walking to Great Point Lighthouse requires traversing the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge, which does not have direct pedestrian access. Therefore, it is recommended to rent a bike or arrange for a shuttle service to reach the lighthouse safely.
Shuttle Service
To reach Great Point Lighthouse, you can use a shuttle service that operates from Nantucket Town to the Coskata-Coatue Wildlife Refuge. Check local listings for shuttle schedules and availability. Start at the Nantucket Town Dock and look for the designated shuttle pickup point. Once aboard, the shuttle will take you directly to the refuge entrance. After arriving at the refuge, follow the designated paths to the lighthouse, which is about 3 miles from the entrance.
