From downtown Newburyport, head south on State Street towards Merrimac Street. Continue onto the Newburyport Turnpike (Route 1). Follow Route 1 for about 2 miles, then turn right onto Plum Island Turnpike. Continue on Plum Island Turnpike until you reach the Plum Island Bridge. Cross the bridge and follow the road until it ends at the parking area near the lighthouse. Note that there may be a small parking fee when you arrive.

Once you arrive at the Plum Island stop, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach the lighthouse.
