Start at the Waltham MBTA Train Station. Take the Fitchburg Line train towards North Station. The journey to North Station takes approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at North Station, exit the train and follow the signs to the Orange Line subway. Board the Orange Line train towards Oak Grove. Get off at Haymarket Station, which is about 4 stops from North Station. After exiting the Haymarket Station, walk towards the Government Center. From there, head southeast on Court St toward School St. Turn left onto School St, and you'll find Boston's Old City Hall at 45 School St, Boston, MA 02108.

Head east on Main St toward Moody St. Continue straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with School St. Turn right onto School St and continue walking for about 1 mile. From Waltham, walk to the nearest bus stop serving the 70 or 70A bus line. Board the bus heading towards Alewife. Ride the bus for about 25 minutes until you reach Alewife Station. Transfer to the Alewife subway station to catch the Red Line towards Ashmont. At Park St Station, switch to the Green Line and take a train towards Government Center. Exit at Government Center, then walk southeast on Court St towards School St. Turn left onto School St, and you will find Boston's Old City Hall at 45 School St, Boston, MA 02108.
