Bus
From Waltham, head to the nearest bus stop at Waltham City Hall on Main Street. Take the MBTA 553 bus towards Alewife Station. Stay on the bus for approximately 30 minutes and get off at the Salem Depot station. From there, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the Salem Maritime National Historic Site. Head southeast on Washington Street, turn left on Derby Street, and the site will be on your right at 160 Derby Street.

Train
Make your way to the Waltham MBTA Commuter Rail station. Board a train on the Fitchburg Line towards North Station. After about 35 minutes, get off at the Lynn station. From there, transfer to the MBTA 455 bus towards Salem. After approximately 15 minutes, disembark at the stop closest to Derby Street. Walk about 10 minutes to reach the Salem Maritime National Historic Site, located at 160 Derby Street. Head west on Washington Street, take a right onto Derby Street, and the site will be on your right.

Bike
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from a local rental shop in Waltham. Start your journey heading north on Main Street, then take a left onto Moody Street. Continue onto the Charles River Greenway and follow the path to the north. After about 5 miles, you will connect to the scenic routes leading to Salem. Once you reach Salem, follow signs towards the waterfront, and then head to Derby Street. The Salem Maritime National Historic Site will be at 160 Derby Street.

If you are feeling adventurous, you can walk to the nearest bus or train station in Waltham and take public transportation. Alternatively, you can walk to a nearby MBTA station and take a train to Salem. Once you arrive in Salem, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the site. From the Salem train station, head southeast on Washington Street, turn left onto Derby Street, and the site will be right there at 160 Derby Street.
