Walking
If you are starting from Waltham Common, head east on Main Street towards the intersection with Waltham Street. Turn left onto Waltham Street and walk until you reach the bus stop for the 70 or 70A bus at the corner of Waltham Street and Crescent Street. Board the bus and ride it for about 20 minutes until you reach Alewife Station. From Alewife Station, transfer to the Alewife to Alewife bus route and get off at the Charlestown Navy Yard stop. Walk a short distance towards Building 22, where the USS Constitution Museum is located.
Public Transit
From Waltham, take the MBTA commuter rail from Waltham Station on the Fitchburg Line towards South Station. Get off at North Station. From there, you can take the Orange Line subway towards Oak Grove. Get off at Haymarket Station. Exit the station and walk towards the North End, then head towards the waterfront. Look for the signs directing you to the Charlestown Navy Yard. It’s about a 15-minute walk from the North End to Building 22, where the USS Constitution Museum is located.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from a bike-sharing program in Waltham. Start from Waltham Common and head north on Main Street, then turn right onto Waltham Street. Continue straight until you reach the Charles River Greenway. Follow the river path, which will lead you towards the city of Boston. Once you reach the city, follow the signs to Charlestown. The journey will take approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on your cycling speed. Upon arriving in Charlestown, locate Building 22 in the Navy Yard to find the USS Constitution Museum.
