Make sure to confirm the fare before you get in, as taxis in Cozumel do not use meters.

If you prefer a more active approach, consider renting a bicycle. Head to a local rental shop in downtown San Miguel, and rent a bike for the day. Once you have your bike, head south on Avenida Rafael E. Melgar, which will take you along the coast. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Carretera a Punta Sur. Turn right, and follow the road until you see signs for Playa El Cielo. It’s about a 30-45 minute ride, depending on your pace.

Walking to Playa El Cielo is not recommended due to the distance (approximately 8 kilometers from downtown San Miguel) and lack of pedestrian-friendly pathways.
