    If you are traveling by car within the Lacandon Jungle, start your journey from the nearest major town, which is Palenque. From Palenque, take Highway 186 towards Escárcega. After approximately 90 kilometers, you will reach the turnoff for Calakmul, which is marked by signs. Turn left onto the road leading towards Calakmul. Continue for about 60 kilometers until you reach the entrance to the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve. Note that there is an entrance fee of around 60 pesos per person.

    To reach Calakmul via public transportation, you can take a bus from Palenque to Escárcega. The buses leave regularly from the Palenque bus terminal. Once in Escárcega, you will need to take a taxi or a local colectivo (shared taxi) to the entrance of Calakmul. The taxi ride from Escárcega to Calakmul will cost approximately 500-600 pesos.
