From the center of Oaxaca, head to the 'Terminal de Autobuses ADO' located on Avenida 5 de Febrero. Purchase a ticket to 'Tlacolula de Matamoros', which is a nearby town. Buses typically leave every 30 minutes. The journey takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Tlacolula, you will need to find a local taxi or colectivo (shared taxi) to Tlacochahuaya, which is about 10-15 minutes away. The taxi stand is located just outside the bus terminal.

Alternatively, from the Oaxaca Centro, walk to the 'Mercado de Abastos' bus terminal. Look for the colectivos heading towards 'Tlacolula de Matamoros'. These are shared vans that leave once they are full and are a bit faster than buses. The ride to Tlacolula will take approximately 25 minutes. After arriving in Tlacolula, take a taxi or another colectivo to Tlacochahuaya, which should take another 10-15 minutes.

If you prefer a more scenic route, you could walk to the nearest main road from the center of Oaxaca, which is Avenida Independencia.
