Getting There
Collectivo
From Playa del Carmen, head to the main highway (Carretera 307) where you can find the collectivo stands. Look for the collectivo heading to Tulum; they are typically white vans with a green stripe. Once you board, inform the driver you want to go to Akumal. The journey should take about 30-40 minutes. When you arrive at Akumal, ask the driver to drop you off at the entrance to the beach.
Bus
Go to the ADO bus terminal located in central Playa del Carmen. Purchase a ticket for a bus to Tulum. The buses run regularly throughout the day. The ride will take approximately 1 hour. Once you reach Tulum, you will need to take a collectivo or taxi from the bus station to Akumal, which is about a 15-minute drive.
Taxi
If you prefer more convenience, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Playa del Carmen directly to Akumal. Simply ask the taxi driver to take you to Akumal Beach. This option is more expensive than public transport but offers a direct route, taking approximately 30 minutes depending on traffic.
