If you are driving from a major city in Southeastern Mexico, such as Tuxtla Gutierrez, first take Highway 190 northeast towards the border with Guatemala. Continue on this highway until you reach the town of San Cristóbal de las Casas. From there, follow Route 190 until you reach the junction with Highway 185D. Take Highway 185D north towards the city of Villahermosa. Once in Villahermosa, switch to Highway 180 and head west until you reach the Mexican border. Cross into the United States and continue on Highway 10 until you reach New Mexico. From here, follow NM-61 south towards Faywood, where City of Rocks State Park is located at 327 NM-61. Keep in mind that there may be tolls along some of these routes, particularly on the highways in Mexico.
