    If you're driving from the nearest major city, El Paso, Texas, head east on I-10 and take exit 50 for US-54 N towards Alamogordo. Continue on US-54 N until you reach Alamogordo, then merge onto US-82 E towards Cloudcroft. Follow US-82 E for about 20 miles. Once you reach Cloudcroft, turn left onto NM-130 N, which will lead you to Sunspot. After approximately 8 miles on NM-130 N, turn right onto Visitor Center Rd, and the Sunspot Solar Observatory will be on your left at 3001 Visitor Center Rd, Sunspot, NM 88349. Be aware that the drive from El Paso takes roughly 2 hours and 30 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

    Public Transportation

    There are no direct public transportation routes to Sunspot Solar Observatory. However, you can take a Greyhound bus from various locations within Southeastern Mexico to Alamogordo, NM.
