    From downtown Detroit, head to the nearest QLINE station, which runs along Woodward Avenue. Board the QLINE heading towards the north (towards the New Center). Ride the QLINE until you reach the end of the line at the 'Grand Blvd.' station. Exit the train and walk to the nearest bus stop located at Grand Blvd. and Woodward Ave. Here, catch the SMART bus Route 450 towards 'Royal Oak'. Stay on the bus as it travels north. After approximately 25 minutes, disembark at the stop closest to the Detroit Zoo, which is located at 8450 W 10 Mile Rd, Royal Oak, MI 48067. From the bus stop, it is a short walk to the entrance of the zoo.

    If you are near the Detroit People Mover, take it to the 'Cobo Hall' station. Exit and walk to the nearest SMART bus stop at the corner of Washington Blvd and Congress St. Board the SMART bus Route 460, which goes directly to Royal Oak. Make sure to check the bus schedule for specific arrival times. After approximately 30-40 minutes, get off at the stop closest to the Detroit Zoo at 8450 W 10 Mile Rd. From there, follow the signs to the zoo entrance.

    If you're feeling adventurous, consider renting a bicycle. Start from downtown Detroit and ride north on the Woodward Avenue bike lane. Continue on Woodward Ave until you reach 10 Mile Rd in Royal Oak. Turn left onto 10 Mile Rd and continue for about a mile until you reach the Detroit Zoo at 8450 W 10 Mile Rd. There are bike racks available at the zoo for you to secure your bike.
