Walking
From the Main Street area of Mackinac Island, head east towards the Grand Hotel. Continue walking along the main road until you reach the entrance to Mackinac Island State Park. Enter the park and follow the signs for Rifle Range Road. As you walk, enjoy the beautiful scenery of the park. Keep an eye out for the trail signs, which will lead you directly to Skull Cave. The cave is located off Rifle Range Road, so make sure to look for any paths leading away from the road towards the cave entrance.
Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the rental shops located near Main Street. Once you have your bike, cycle east towards the Grand Hotel. After passing the hotel, continue to follow the road into Mackinac Island State Park. Look for the signage indicating the direction to Rifle Range Road. Once you reach Rifle Range Road, keep your eyes peeled for access points to Skull Cave, which should be clearly marked. Be cautious on the trails as they can be steep and uneven.
Horse-drawn carriage
For a unique experience, consider taking a horse-drawn carriage ride. Depart from Main Street where you can find various carriage services. Ask the driver to take you to Skull Cave or to the entrance of Mackinac Island State Park. Once you arrive at the park, you can either walk or bike the short distance to the cave.
