Getting There

• Walking

  Start at the center of Mackinac Island, near the Main Street area. From the intersection of Main Street and Market Street, head northwest on Main Street. Continue walking until you reach the fork in the road. At the fork, take the left path onto Cadotte Avenue. Follow Cadotte Avenue as it curves and leads you up a slight incline. Keep walking until you reach the junction where Cadotte Avenue meets the trail leading to the Grand Hotel. Stay on the trail until you see signs for Sunset Rock. Continue following the trail up to Sunset Rock, where you will enjoy scenic views of the island and the surrounding waters.

• Biking

  If you have rented a bike, start from the Main Street area. Head northwest on Main Street until you reach the fork. Take the left fork onto Cadotte Avenue. Continue on Cadotte Avenue until you see a sign for the Grand Hotel. At this point, you will find a bike path that leads directly to Sunset Rock. Follow this path, enjoying the scenery as you pedal. The bike route will take you up a gradual incline. Look for signs directing you to Sunset Rock as you approach the final stretch.

• Horse-Drawn Carriage

  If you prefer a leisurely ride, consider taking a horse-drawn carriage from the Main Street area. Locate a carriage service, and inform the driver you would like to go to Sunset Rock. The driver will take you along a scenic route through Mackinac Island, and you will be dropped off at the closest point to the trail leading up to Sunset Rock. From there, follow the walking path to reach the viewpoint.
