Car
If you're traveling by car from the center of Mid-Michigan, such as from Lansing, head west on I-96 toward Grand Rapids. Continue on I-96 for approximately 60 miles until you reach exit 33 for US-31 N toward Muskegon. Merge onto US-31 N and follow it for about 30 miles. Take exit 118 for Whitehall and turn left onto M-120 W. Continue straight for about 1.5 miles, then turn right onto Murray Rd. The White River Light Station will be on your right at 6199 Murray Rd, Whitehall, MI 49461. Make sure to check the hours of operation, as it is open from 10 AM to 5 PM daily.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from the nearest major city, such as Grand Rapids. You can use the Greyhound or Indian Trails bus services that operate routes to Whitehall. Once you arrive at the Whitehall bus station, you can either take a taxi or rideshare service to the White River Light Station, which is about 2 miles away. Ensure to check the bus schedules in advance as they may not run frequently.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, biking to the White River Light Station is an option. If you are in Whitehall, you can bike to the station by heading south on M-120 W from the city center. It is approximately a 20-30 minute ride depending on your pace. Ensure your bike is in good condition and wear a helmet for safety.
Walking
If you are staying nearby in Whitehall and prefer to walk, the White River Light Station is about a 45-minute walk from the city center. Head south on M-120 W, then turn right onto Murray Rd and follow it until you reach the light station. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, and check the weather ahead of time.
