Getting There

• Walking

  Start your journey at the Petoskey Downtown area, specifically near the Petoskey Welcome Center located at 401 East Lake Street. From there, head east on East Lake Street towards the waterfront. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with State Street. Turn right onto State Street and walk until you reach the intersection with Mitchell Street. Turn left onto Mitchell Street and proceed until you reach the entrance of the Petoskey State Park, which is a short walk from downtown. Once you arrive at the park entrance, follow the signs towards the Skyline Trail. The trailhead is well-marked, and you will hike approximately 1.5 miles uphill to reach the Skyline Trail Viewing Platform. Enjoy the scenic views along the way!

• Biking

  If you prefer to bike, begin at the Petoskey Downtown area near the Petoskey Welcome Center at 401 East Lake Street. Rent a bike from a local rental shop if you don’t have one. Head east on East Lake Street towards the waterfront, and take a quick right onto the Little Traverse Wheelway. Cycle along the trail, enjoying the views of Lake Michigan. When you reach the entrance to Petoskey State Park, lock your bike at the bike rack provided. From the park entrance, follow the signs to the Skyline Trail, which will lead you on a 1.5-mile hike to the Viewing Platform.

• Public Transport and Walking

  To reach the Skyline Trail Viewing Platform via public transport, check for local bus services that operate in and around Petoskey. Start at the Petoskey Downtown area and take the bus that heads towards Petoskey State Park. Disembark at the nearest stop to the park entrance. From the bus stop, walk towards the park entrance and follow the signs to the Skyline Trail. The hike from the trailhead to the Viewing Platform is approximately 1.5 miles uphill, so be prepared for a bit of a climb!
