The Almanett Hotel & Bistro: Gulfport's Boutique Gem

The hotel is named after the owner's grandmother. It stands as the only Black-owned boutique hotel on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. In the late 1950s and 60s, the Almanett was the site of civil rights protests against beach segregation led by activists like Dr. Felix Dunn and Dr. Gilbert Mason Sr..
