Discover more about Gulfport Harbormaster Office

The Gulfport Harbormaster Office is more than just a marina; it's a gateway to the Gulf of Mexico and a focal point for the city's vibrant waterfront. Located within the Gulfport Municipal Marina, also known as the Gulfport Small Craft Harbor or Bert Jones Yacht Basin, the harbormaster's office oversees a facility that has been serving mariners and attracting visitors for decades. Officially established in 1902, the area's maritime history stretches back much further, with its strategic location along the Gulf making it a destination for vessels for over 300 years. French explorer D'Iberville used the natural basin on the lee side of Ship Island as a safe haven as far back as 1699. The marina itself has been completely rebuilt since Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and reopened in July 2011. Today, the marina can accommodate vessels up to 140 feet and has 319 slips. The Gulfport Municipal Marina offers a wide array of amenities, including boat slips, fueling stations, clean restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, and a pump-out station. The Ship Store provides drinks, snacks, marine supplies, and fishing tackle. The marina is also adjacent to Jones Park, a 26-acre beachfront park with concert pavilions, an amphitheater, and a splash pad. Whether you're a seasoned boater or a land-based traveler, the Gulfport Harbormaster Office provides access to the beauty and adventure of the Mississippi coast.
