Discover more about Hattiesburg Pocket Museum

Tucked away in a vibrant alley in downtown Hattiesburg, the Pocket Museum offers a delightful escape into a world of miniatures and imagination. What began as a creative solution to bring art to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic has blossomed into a beloved attraction for locals and tourists alike. In March 2020, the Saenger Theatre, like many venues, closed its doors. The Hattiesburg Convention Commission sought a safe way to provide the community with art. With a modest $800, a boarded-up window in the back of the Saenger Theatre was transformed into a tiny museum. The museum's centerpiece is a window display measuring just 36” x 48”. Inside, exhibits rotate monthly, showcasing diverse collections from Swiss Army knives to rubber ducks and themed displays inspired by pop culture. The exhibits are community suggested and supplied. A modified View-Master offers a related theater experience, and visitors can contribute to or take art from the Pocket Gallery. The alley itself is an extension of the museum, adorned with murals, 3D street art, and miniature figurines tucked into unexpected places. String lights and picnic tables create a welcoming atmosphere day and night. Finding the Pocket Museum is part of the adventure. While it doesn't have a specific address, it is located in the alley behind the Saenger Theatre. The museum is open 24/7 and is free.
