Discover more about Town Square Park

Town Square Park, located at 100 Main Street in downtown Hattiesburg, serves as a central gathering place and event venue for the city. The park's story began in the 1990s after the First Baptist Church relocated, leaving the lot vacant for over 20 years. The City of Hattiesburg envisioned a neighborhood park reminiscent of historic town squares and J. Ed Turner generously donated the property. In 1996, improvement plans began, including cleaning the site, building a walking trail, and installing 1900s-style park benches and antique light fixtures. Later additions included a gazebo and a three-tiered fountain. A permanent stage was added in 2014. Today, Town Square Park hosts a wide array of events, including the Live at Five concert series, farmers' markets, and community festivals. The park has become a vital part of downtown Hattiesburg's revival, attracting businesses and visitors to the area. It offers a space for both active and passive recreation, enhancing the livability of the city. The park also sits on the banks of Gordon's Creek, adding a natural element to the urban setting. Town Square Park is open daily from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm.
