Getting There

Car
If you're driving from the center of Black River Basin, take MO-21 North. Continue on MO-21 for approximately 10 miles until you reach the junction with MO-72. Turn left onto MO-72 West and drive for about 5 miles. Look for signs directing you to New Offenburg. Once in New Offenburg, follow the signs that lead you to Hickory Canyons Natural Area. The entrance is located at the end of a short gravel road off of the main highway. There is no entrance fee to access the natural area.

If you are using public transportation, check for local bus services that operate within the Black River Basin area. You may need to take a bus to the nearest town, which is likely to be Ironton. From Ironton, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to take you to Hickory Canyons Natural Area, as public transport options directly to the site are limited. It’s advisable to call a local taxi service ahead of time to confirm availability. Expect to pay around $20-$30 for the taxi ride from Ironton to Hickory Canyons.
