Its distinctive design, created by architect Gyo Obata, features granite walls and a stainless steel spire that spirals 300 feet into the sky, evoking the shape of a nautilus shell, symbolizing the infinite nature of God. Inside, the Temple offers a variety of spaces for contemplation and worship. Visitors can explore the Meditation Chapel, a serene room overlooking a Japanese-style garden, and follow the Worshiper's Path, adorned with symbolic artwork. The Temple Sanctuary, seating 1,600, boasts a spiral ceiling rising 195 feet and houses a 5,685-pipe organ. A museum on the main floor displays artifacts related to the church's history. The Community of Christ emerged from the Latter Day Saint movement founded by Joseph Smith Jr.. Following Smith's death in 1844, the movement divided into several groups, with the Community of Christ formally established in 1860. Originally known as the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the church adopted its current name in 2000.
