If you are driving from Billings, Montana, take I-90 W towards Helena. After about 140 miles, take exit 194 for US-287 S towards Townsend/Helena. Merge onto US-287 S and continue for about 24 miles. Turn left onto MT-12 W and follow the signs for Helena. Once you reach Helena, follow the signs for the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness, which is located just north of Helena. You can park at the trailhead located at 46.8778706, -111.914965. There is no entry fee, but make sure to check for any parking fees at the trailhead.
