Getting There

    If you are starting from the nearby Fountain Flat Drive, locate the trailhead at Fountain Paint Pot. From there, follow the well-marked boardwalk trail that leads into the Lower Geyser Basin. The walk is approximately 1 mile and is relatively flat, making it accessible for most visitors. As you walk, take in the stunning geothermal features along the route. Continue towards the basin until you reach the main viewing area.

  • Biking

    If you have access to a bike, you can ride from the Old Faithful area. Head north on the Grand Loop Road, and then take the turnoff for Fountain Flat Drive. The ride is about 6 miles and will take you directly to the Fountain Paint Pot trailhead, from where you can explore the Lower Geyser Basin on foot.
