Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are starting from the Mammoth Hot Springs area, head south on the main park road. Follow the signs towards Gardiner. Continue along this road for approximately 5 miles (8 km). You will pass through beautiful landscapes with opportunities to see wildlife along the way. Upon reaching the entrance to Gardiner, look for signs indicating the Roosevelt Arch, which is located just off the main road near the north entrance of Yellowstone. The arch will be on your right, and you can easily walk up to it for stunning views and photo opportunities.

  • Biking

    From the Canyon Village area, take the designated bike paths south towards Fishing Bridge. Continue on the path until you reach the junction for the East Entrance Road. Turn north on the road towards Gardiner. The ride is approximately 25 miles (40 km) and will take you through scenic areas of the park. As you approach Gardiner, follow the signs to Roosevelt Arch. Upon entering Gardiner, keep an eye out for the arch on your left side, just off US-89.

    If you are near the Lamar Valley, you can hike towards the north entrance by following the trails leading south. Depending on your starting point, this can be a lengthy hike, so ensure you are prepared with water and snacks. Make your way towards the road leading to Gardiner. Once you reach the road, head south for about 4 miles (6.4 km). The Roosevelt Arch will be on your right side, easily accessible from the road.
